Kosovo Coalition Party Intensifies Attack on Government over Violation of Sovereignty and Dialogue with Serbia

Kosovo coalition ally Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has intensified its attacks on the government of Avdullah Hoti.

On Sunday, two AAK ministers slammed the government over the alleged violation of the country’s sovereignty following a joint border patrol in Kosovo territory of the Serbian army and KFOR, and over the dialogue with Serbia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla slammed NATO’s peacekeeping mission KFOR and the government in a Facebook post regarding the Serbian army’s patrolling inside Kosovo territory on Friday.

She argued that the patrol was not a “synchronized operation,” as KFOR claims, but an “unauthorized joint operation”. In synchronized operations, armies of the two countries patrol their own border and report to the other party, the minister argued, but they don’t violate borders.

Haradinaj-Stublla also replied to Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti’s comment following AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj’s visit in the village where Serbian army was seen. “There is no room for panic, and no need for pompous statements,” Hoti stated on Saturday.

“Acting according to the Constitution and the Law is not a pompous statement, but a state obligation that we must all fulfill,” the minister replied.

Minister of Justice Selim Selimi, also from AAK, criticized Hoti on Sunday for excluding him from the dialogue team. Selimi said he was unable to inform his party leader on the progress of the dialogue due to lack of information.

AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj has repeatedly criticized the government on the same issue during the recent weeks.

However, the AAK refused to join a no-confidence vote against the government initiated by the opposition Vetevendosje party.

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa replied to today’s intensified criticism by promising to sit in talks with AAK as soon as Prime Minister Hoti recovers from Covid-19.
