Nuhi Mavrovqani, accused of killing his wife in Kosovo’s municipality of Kamenica, was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Gjilan.
According the Prosecution, Mavroqani had caused fatal open wounds and fractures to the left side of his wife’s head.
He was found guilty of committing the criminal offense by hitting his wife with a metal rod initially on the left side of the head, knocking her to the floor and continued hitting her on the head and other parts of the body.
Mavrovqani, was charged with aggravated murder and Prosecution claimed that he committed the crime on purpose.
Mavroqani’s lawyer, Arsim Vranovci requested from the Court to take into account as a mitigating circumstance the fact that his client pleaded guilty.
However, the Court counted several aggravating circumstances on the case, including the fact that the crime was committed in the presence of their three children with the youngest being just four weeks old.
The judge also mentioned the fact that the victim was still recovering after delivering her baby through a C- section surgery.
The crime happened on July 25, 2020 in Berivojce- a village of Kamenica, due to ongoing family disputes.
