Kosovo Decides On New Anti COVID- 19 Measures

Kosovo decided on new measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic following a meeting of the Ministry of Health, National Institute of Public Health and the Pandemic Management Committee on Saturday.

“Persons with chronic diseases and those over the age of 60 will free from working in public institutions,” Armend Zemaj, Kosovo’s minister of health said during a press conference.

These employees will continue with online work from homes.

Citizens over 65 years old are allowed to go out only during the period 6 am- 10 am and from 4 pm- 7pm. Outside this schedule they can only leave homes for health related reasons.

Institutions decided to close shopping malls and restaurants between 9pm and 5am. Take away service will be allowed outside of these hours

Zemaj said that it is being discussed to place the medical teams of the Family Medicine Centers at the border crossing points for checks of those who enter the country.

He called on all the institutions to respect their duties in order to prevent another lockdown of the country, while also called for cooperation from each citizen.

Only yesterday Kosovo reported 4 deaths and 418 new cases with COVID- 19.

It took the total number of infected to 19,328 since the beginning of the pandemic. About 93,000 people have been tested, 1,608 on Friday alone.

Economy experts in Kosovo are against another lockdown of the country saying that it might lead to a collapse with unbearable consequences.
