
Kosovo has improved its ranking in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index for 2021.
This year’s 39 points scored (out of 100) mark an improvement by 3 points, as well as 17 places higher to 87th on the list of 180 countries.
The world average was a score of 43, putting Kosovo below the average.
However, the country now stands second in the region, behind Montenegro, with North Macedonia (39), Serbia (38), Bosnia and Herzegovina (35), and lastly Albania (35) following in the list.
Denmark, Finland, and New Zealand scored the highest with 88 points, and South Sudan the lowest with 11 points.
Embassies of Germany, France and United Kingdom commended the government of Albin Kurti for their progress in the fight against corruption in about a year since it took power in February 2021.
Kosova Democratic Institute (KDI), one of the leading non-profit organizations in the country, welcomed the progress and urged the government to continue reforms in the justice system, anti-corruption agency, public procurement, and election of board members to public agencies.
