Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has reiterated that his country is pursuing the dialogue with Serbia to get recognition, but a Serbia government representative has again denied the claim.
On Wednesday, following a government meeting ahead on Thursday’s Kosovo-Serbia meeting in Brussels, Hoti stated that the parties are going to discuss economic issues, but that the governing coalition is in talks to get recognition from Serbia, Top Channel reported.
Serbia’s negotiator Marko Djuric denied Hoti’s repeated claim about a dialogue resulting in recognition.
“Within the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, various aspects of normalization of relations and creation of conditions for normal life of citizens in Kosovo and Metohija are being discussed, but mutual recognition has never been and will never be on the agenda,” Kossev reported Djuric saying. He called the repeated claim by Hoti “a monologue”.
The two parties are expected to discuss economic issues on Thursday in Brussels, but no more information has been made available about the agenda.
In Kosovo, Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti invited all political parties to send representatives in the dialogue team for meetings in Brussels on August 27, and in Washington, D.C., on September 4. The opposition Vetevendosje party refused to do so, claiming the government is illegitimate.
One day ahead of Brussels talks, the government did not disclose the dialogue team.
