Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti dismissed the director of the Customs Ibrahim Xhaka and the director of the Tax Administration of Kosovo Ilir Murtezaj.
“In accordance with the legal competencies, today the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Avdullah Hoti, has taken the decision to dismiss the acting General Director of Kosovo Customs, Ibrahim Xhaka and the General Director of the Tax Administration of Kosovo, Ilir Murtezaj” reads the press release on the dismissal.
This decision made on Friday came right after Hoti dismissed the General Director of Kosovo Police, Rashit Qalaj.
Opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) accused Hoti of dismissing Qalaj after he ordered the arrest of the deputy head of the ruling party, Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
“The timing of the dismissal, within one week from the arrest of LDK deputy leader, Haki Rugova for abuse of power, “suggests that it is a revenge act against law enforcement institutions,” the second-largest opposition party stated.
