Albin Kurti, the incumbent Prime Minister of Kosovo has donated half of his salary towards efforts to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.
The news was announced on Facebook by government spokesperson Perparim Kryeziu.

“At a time when the challenge and the goal are shared between us, solidarity is not only a need but an obligation. The incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti today donated 50% of this salary, EUR 684.83 for the management of COVID-19.”
Kryeziu said that the diaspora had responded to Kurit’s call to help Kosovo financially at a time the country is struggling to deal with the pandemic.
“The diaspora continues to respond to our call for financial support. So far, their assistance has exceeded more than EUR 300,000. We guarantee Diaspora transparency and accountability in the use of donated funds and we are always grateful to them. The Kurti government is committed to strengthening the role of the diaspora in the country, and for this we are committed to the programme of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo,” Kryeziu added.
To date there have been 432 cases of COVID-19 in Kosovo and 11 people have died.
