Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has hailed his government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic following the relative decrease in new cases and deaths during the past week.
On Saturday, Hoti thanked the citizens, medical staff and international partners for supporting his government in achieving what he called “a success”: “This chart and these figures would not look like this without the contribution of each of us.”

“We have multiplied the number of tests, we have drastically reduced the number of infected and victims,” Hoti stated.
Hoti did not elaborate on the exact government measures leading to the reduction of numbers.
Kosovo has recorded 600 deaths in the last four months, since Hoti was voted in. The government started to manage the pandemic on June 3, with 30 deaths registered.
The country has reported 15,758 news cases and 630 deaths to date.
