Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will be part of peacekeeping missions outside the country.
At the request of the outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, Parliament approved on Tuesday the deployment of the Kosovo Security Force contingent to missions abroad, jointly with the IOWA National Guard.
During his speech in Parliament, Hoti said that the professionalism and dedication of the KSF forces have led it to gain the trust of the United States of America to be with the peacekeeping forces in international missions.
KSF has not previously participated in peacekeeping missions outside of the country.
The decision is based on the memorandum that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has signed with the Embassy of the United States of America, for deploying the KSF on missions abroad jointly with the IOWA National Guard.
In 2018, the Assembly of Kosovo approved legal changes to transform the mandate of the Kosovo Security Force into an armed force.
The transformation process of the Kosovo Army is expected to last ten years.
