Kosovo Steps Up Lockdown Measures

The Kosovo government has announced new lockdown measures to fight the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

Starting from Friday, all economic activity will be banned from 19:00 on in cities assessed as being at high risk.

Additionally, the same municipalities – Prishtina, Podujeva, Gjakova, Gjilan, Ferizaj, Fushë Kosova, Obiliq and Shtime – will be put into lockdown, meaning that entry and exit into the city will be banned after 19:00.

It comes after a similar lockdown imposed during the last weekend.

Kosovo has seen increasing numbers of new infections, and high numbers of deaths also. Over 25 thousand cases have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic, while the death toll has reached 773.
