The Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) in The Hague has accused the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Association of undermining proper administration of justice by the SPO.
“Over the last number of weeks, my Office has received many questions from journalists about statements made by the KLA War Veterans Association (OVL), which has on a number of occasions engaged in activities which I believe are aimed at undermining the proper administration of justice,” the SPO noted in a press statement on Tuesday.
The statement follows three announcements by the OVL of having received thousands of SPO leaked documents, publication by a media in Albania of some related content, and several OVL statements regarding the alleged partiality of the SPO in conducting investigations specifically against Albanians, not against Serbs.
The SPO commended journalists for not publishing the leaked documents, which would “undermine the rule of law and the course of justice.” It also reminded them that “participating in disseminating such information could be a crime under the Kosovo Criminal Code.”
“The SPO is committed to vigorously investigating and prosecuting individuals who commit any such crimes, including the disclosure of the identity of individuals who may be called before the court or any information that could lead to their identification,” they stated.
In a separate press statement, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers announced that six new judges were appointed to the court.
