Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Asks Apple to Recognise the Country on Its Maps App

The Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kosovo, Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla has officially asked Apple to include the borders of Kosovo in the mapping services of the company.

The minister announced that she had sent a letter to the head of the American company Tim Cook, stating that:

“Apple map services do not display the borders of Kosovo which is internationally recognized. Instead, the Republic of Kosovo appears as part of Serbia. This is contrary to the political and legal reality.

This hurts our citizens who have faced great losses in their struggle for independence. This is also seen as an insult to our state. “

About a week ago, Megi Cara, an Albanian student in London, launched an online petition asking Apple to present Kosovo as a separate state, after noticing that it was not separated from Serbia by international borders in the Apple Maps application.

The petition became news in several local media in Albanian and English and was even distributed by world-famous singers such as Dua Lipa and Rita Ora.

More than 169 thousand people have signed the petition online.

Exit News spoke with Maggie Cara about the initiative. You can read more here.
