Fifty hectares of land are ablaze in a village near Kruje, posing a threat to nearby villages and properties as the flames are being fanned by the wind.
The fire broke out near the village of Mukje and reached significant proportions last night, clearly visible from Tirana.
At the time of writing, over 50 hectares of vegetation have been destroyed as the fire inches closer to properties. The fire brigade attended the scene in a bid to bring the fire under control.
Another big fire in Shetaj i Ishmi, Durres was extinguished but then reignited later in the day.
Albania has experienced a number of wildfires this summer, but so far, the amount of incidents and hectares burned has been less than 2021. By the end of July, 214 fires had been reported in the previous 12 months.
