EU Envoy Miroslav Lajcak has stated that there is no binding agreement between Kosovo and Serbia signed at the White House last year.
“What was signed does not have an implementation mechanism and depends on the good will of the parties. We do not do that in Brussels. We are working on a clear agreement on who does what and when,” Lajcak said during a video discussion on the “Potentials of EU-US Cooperation in the Western Balkans”.
In September, the leaders of the two countries were welcomed by President Donald Trump at the White to sign separate pledges on economic normalization.
He further added that the EU and US relationship in recent years negatively affected the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
“It was clear that there were two approaches, and that was not what the EU decided, nor did it want to,” the EU envoy for the dialogue said.
Lajcak expressed optimism regarding future cooperation with the Biden administration on the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
