The Standing Committee of Legal Affairs has today approved the list of three candidates for the first vacancy at the Constitutional Court to be filled by Parliament.
After the recommendation of the Justice Nominations Council, the Committee approved the following three candidates:
- Arta Vorpsi
- Fiona Papajorgji
- Elsa Toska
All three candidates have a final confirmation from the vetting institutions. Parliament will now vote on the final candidate to be elected to the highest court of the country.
On October 15, President Ilir Meta decreed the first new member of the Constitutional Court, Besnik Muçi. Muçi’s confirmation by the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) was appealed by the Public Commissioner at the Special Appeal Chamber (KPA). The next session in Muçi’s appeal is expected to be held on November 7.
