On 20 April, the first business will be able to reopen. Those that will have permission to do so are considered “low risk”. A list is due to be published on the e-Albania portal today.
Prime Minister Edi Rama had previously said that low-risk businesses would include speciality retail stores, one-person taxis, textile shops, footwear and clothing, lighting, jewellery, audio, carpets and children’s items.
On 27 April, medium-risk businesses will be allowed to open. These are expected to include road transport, second-hand goods, and markets.
The final phase of reopenings, those deemed as high-risk includes bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, educational institutions, and sports centres. No date has been announced for these as of yet.
All businesses will receive a weekly permit from e-Albania that they must apply for.
Pedestrians needing to walk to work will be able to apply for a weekly permit. Those needing to travel by car for work are also able to move. The permit allows for one passenger in the car but they must sit in the rear diagonal seat.
The Prime Minister said there will be criminal consequences for violations.
