A 56-year-old man has been arrested in Kruja for raping a 24-year-old.
The woman is reported to be suffering from pre-existing mental health conditions when she was abused. She also became pregnant following the sexual violence inflicted on her.
The arrest of the individual occurred following an investigation that analysed DNA from the child born to the survivor. DNA showed that the child was his despite him denying having had sexual intercourse with her, or raping her.
Following the results of the DNA test, the Kruja prosecution ordered his immediate arrest on charges of “sexual intercourse with persons incapable of defending themselves” in acknowledgement of her alleged mental capacities.
The incident is alleged to have occurred in May 2019 when the woman’s aunt took her to the police.
Just yesterday, a court in Saranda downgraded the measure of prison arrest to house arrest of an individual charged with sexually abusing a child.
