Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj has denied that he has travelled to Turkey to get treatment for COVID-19. The news was circulated in some media that his condition had deteriorated and he had travelled abroad.
Since 28 July, Veliaj self-quarantined at home after testing positive with the virus. Veliaj told FaxWeb that he is fine and is at his home in Tirana in the Kodra e Diellit neighbourhood.
“I am in Tirana waiting for the second test to confirm whether I have recovered or not. The first test was negative and within 48 hours I will get the result of the second test. I have not left the country at any moment,” he said.
The Mayor then shared his location via WhatsApp to show he was at home.
