Montenegro Requests the Extradition of the Ex- President Marovic From Serbia

The Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic has urged Serbia to extradite the last former Yugoslav president, Zvetozar Marovic.

During a press conference, Abrazovic said the renewed request for Marovic’s extradition was sent in order to establish better relations with Serbia.

Marovic is one of the main figures accused of corruption in Montenegro. This development has prompted Montenegro to start opening negotiations with the EU.

Marovic sought political asylum in Serbia, where he has been since 2016. He supports the pro-Serbian opposition in Montenegro and spoke out against former President Milo Djukanovic in the last election.
