This year municipalities have started lightening and decorating city squares much earlier than usual.
Mayor Veliaj, for instance, officially lighted the tree in the Skanderbeg Square on 15 November, 2018.
Below Exit.al takes a quick look at how much taxpayers’ money the main municipalities have spent on decorating cities this end of the year.
An analysis into municipalities’ calls for tenders shows that small ones, like Mallakastra municipality, have spent same amounts as bigger ones, such as the Vlora and Fier municipalities; or take the case of Vora municipality, which has spent the same as Shkodra municipality. Let’s look at some numbers here:
Vlora municipality called for bids for the limited amount of ALL 4.8 million, VAT excluded (€ 39,000 – $ 44,000). The tender winner has not been announced yet.
Durrës municipality spent ALL 4.85 million, VAT excluded (€ 39,000 – $ 44,000). The tender winner was Iceberg Communication shpk.
Mallakastra municipality also spent about ALL 4.85 million, VAT excluded (€ 39,000 – $ 44,000). The tender winner was Fled shpk.
Fier municipality has called for bids for an amount of ALL 3.2 million, VAT excluded (€ 26,000 – $ 29,000), but the winner has not been announced yet.
Shkodra municipality spent ALL 2.4 million, VAT excluded (€ 19,000– $ 22,000). The winner was Preka shpk.
Vora municipality spent ALL 2.3 million, VAT excluded (€ 19,000– $ 22,000). The tender winner was Sakuli shpk.
Meanwhile, Tirana municipality has called for bids just for fireworks, for an amount of ALL 2.1 million (€ 17,000– $ 19,000).
