In August 2018, a three-year-old boy named Kindergarten Director Nashi Shehapi as his abuser and someone who had beaten him and locked him in a cupboard under the stairs in the school.
After almost three hours of questioning with psychologists, a medical report stating it was an injury inflicted by an adult, and the repeated statement of the child that Shehapi was his abuser, it was hoped that the case would be swiftly dealt with by the courts. After six months in the hands of Prosecutor Eriselda Bala, she today contacted the parents to confirm that the case would not be seen in front of a judge.
Stating that the boy implicated another child, not Shehapi, the prosecutor said there was not enough evidence to pursue the case.
The child that was named during the psychologist’s interrogation, in-between Nashi being named as the assailant, was a child that was not even present in the kindergarten that day. In addition to this, it does not appear that this child was questioned in any way as to ascertain the veracity of the one mention of his name.
Secondly, the almost three hour psychologists interview during which the victim repeatedly named Nashi as hitting him, as well as stating she locked him in a cupboard was summarised in just five short lines of text. Most of the key information was left out including the child stating she should be in prison as well as other indicators of abuse. The five lines of text was then concluded with the child apparently saying “I have nothing else to add”- remarkable words for a three-year-old.
Furthermore, Nashi Shehapi as an abuse of her position set about collecting signatures from people she knew in order to “prove” that she was not guilty of the crimes. Despite us receiving a number of complaints from various employees and parents of the school, stating that she was abusive to children and adults alike, these following individuals signed on the dotted line to proclaim her innocence.
– Blerta Balla Zajmi- an employee of the kindergarten who did not have any ongoing contact with the child in question.
– Minush Krasniqi- a night guard with a child at the school who is not in the abused boy’s class.
– Haki Dulla- friend of Minush Krasiniqi and does not have a child in the kindergarten.
– Jorida Sotiri- a government employee at Inspektorati Shtetor i Punes Dhe Sherbimeve Sociale. She signed the declaration stating she was the head of the parent group but we can reveal that this is a lie and she deliberately lied on her legal declaration.
These individuals, with little or no connection to the child in question signed a document proclaiming Nashi Shehapi was innocent, despite the fact that they were either not there, or do not have children in the boy’s class. There was no way that a night guard would have any insight into what went on during the classroom, nor would a government employee lying in her declaration and stating she is a member of the parental group.
One would think that any prosecutor worth her salt, would do some due diligence into the people claiming that the abuse did not take place.
It is clear that Ms Bala- apart from being deliberately obstructive throughout the entire process as well as delaying the case for over six months, is not fit to carry out her work. Anyone with any legal experience or competency can tell that it is clear the evidence that has been provided is not sufficient to dismiss a case.
Whilst Nashi Shehapi and her family, including her daughter Keira who threatened me via Facebook, may think that this matter has gone to rest, be assured that this is only the beginning and that we will exhaust every legal avenue available to use.
