NATO Donates 60 Ventilators to Albania to Fight COVID-19

NATO delivered 60 ventilators to Albania this weekend in a response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The ventilators were received by the Albanian Ministry of Defence and will be handed over this week to the Ministry of Health for distribution to hospitals.

They will be used in the Mother Teresa University Hospital Centre and the Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital as well as the COVID 3 Hospital.

According to a NATO press release, they are part of a donation by the US to NATO. The shipment will be followed by additional donations in the coming weeks which will include medical supplies and equipment.

NATO said they have established a stockpile of medical equipment to be able to provide immediate relief to Allies or partners in need.

Throughout October and November, Montenegro and North Macedonia will both receive dozens of ventilators and around EUR 1.5 million in medical supplies through the Pandemic Response Trust Fund. This comes after they requested assistance, along with Albania, from the NATO Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre.
