Nine officials and builders were arrested yesterday over buildings collapsed in the November 26 earthquake. Nine more were put on the wanted list after 17 arrest warrants issued by the Durres Prosecution Office. They are suspected of murder and/or abuse of power.
Among those arrested there are 6 current or former local administration employees, while 5 others are on the run. The remaining 6 people arrested or wanted are local officials, builders and an architecture studio owner.
The opposition reacted by stating that the “main person responsible of the urban massacre” in Durres is the former mayor, Vangjush Dako, whom, according to them, Prime Minister Edi Rama has prohibited prosecutors to investigate.
