No deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported in Albania in the last three weeks, however, coronavirus infections have been on the rise.
A total of 99 new coronavirus cases were registered in the last seven days, increasing the number of active cases to 156. Only 5 cases required specialized medical care.
In the last 24 hours, there were 21 new infections, the highest daily number this month.
The Albanian Ministry of Health suspects that the Delta variant of COVID-19 may have reached Albania already, though no cases have been confirmed to date.
Health officials and government officials have repeatedly urged citizens to not neglect the vaccination process.
Starting today and until July 25th, Albania will make vaccines available to everyone over 18. Every Albanian citizen and resident will be eligible to receive a vaccine jab.
More than 1,5 million doses of vaccine have been administered so far in the country.
