No Pre-Election Coalitions Registered in Kosovo Hours Before the Deadline

Tuesday is the deadline for political parties in Kosovo to declare pre- election coalition to run on the snap parliamentary elections on February, 14.

However, hours before the deadline, none of political entities applied at the Central Election Commission to register any coalition.

“According to the Law on General Elections, the coalition can only consist of political parties. So far we have not received any declaration about coalitions,” the spokesperson of CEC told Exit News on Tuesday morning.

Elezi recalled that political parties registered with the Central Election Commission, which want to run in the elections through a coalition, must notify the CEC by 18:00 on Tuesday.

On the other side, the deadline for political entities to apply to be certified for participating in the parliamentary elections is January, 16.

The election campaign is set for February 3 until February 12, while the elections will take place on February 14.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo took the country to snap parliamentary elections, after its decision ruled that the voting in of the government was in violation with Constitution.
