Kosovo’s Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti stated that he deeply believes in the right fight for freedom of the Kosovo Liberation Army and it remains one of the “brightest” eras of country’s history.
Hoti’s reactions come following the confirmation of the war crimes indictment against now-former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and former speaker of Parliament Kadri Veseli.
“Nobody can judge our fight for freedom,” Hoti said.
He added that the KLA fought for the liberation of the country, protecting homes of its people and did not fight in “stranger’s land”, reminding that it was also supported by the NATO forces that culminated with the bombing campaign against Serbia.
Hashim Thaci and Kadri Veseli are indicted for murder, enforced disappearance of persons, persecution, and torture against hundreds of Kosovo Albanians, Serbs, Roma, and other ethnicities.
Thaci, Veseli, and other suspects are alleged to be responsible for nearly 100 murders.
Both Thaci and Veseli stated on Thursday that they were notified by competent bodies that their indictments were confirmed by The Hague- based Kosovo Specialist Chambers, which is set to try war crimes allegedly committed by KLA members during and after the war.
