The Municipal Council of Tetovo has declared three days of mourning for the 14 people who lost their lives after a fire exploded inside a modular COVID-19 clinic.
The Mayor of Tetovo Teuta Arifi said in a press conference that the state will provide assistance to the families of the victims. She added the government will begin a full investigation into the causes of the fire.
14 people lost their lives in Tetovo as a result of a fire that engulfed a temporary COVID-19 clinic on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of Northern Macedonia has confirmed that 26 patients were being treated at the time the fire exploded. Firefighters have already rescued 12 people.
Local media report that DNA tests may be required to identify some of the victims.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Preliminary investigations point to the malfunctioning of the oxygen cylinders as the culprit.
