North Macedonia’s Parliament Dissolved Ahead of Snap Elections

Macedonian MPs voted for the dissolution of parliament, which opens the way for the April 12 early general elections.

North Macedonia is currently led by a technical government that will organize early elections, which came as a result of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s resignation after the country’s failure to open EU accession talks in October last year.

France, Denmark and the Netherlands blocked the opening of EU accession talks with North Macedonia and Albania last year. Zaev took responsibility for the failure, whilst Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama blamed “EU’s internal issues” for the decision.
