The number of tourists who have entered Albania this summer is higher than 2019, according to the Albanian Border Police.
From July 1 to today, 100,000 more visitors were recorded at Tirana Airport compared to 2019.
“And this increase is not limited to Rinas [airport], but at all border crossing points there has been an increased influx [of tourists],” said Eduart Merkaj, Director for Borders and Migration.
Earlier last week, Prime Minister Edi Rama posted on Facebook that between August 1 and August 15, some 859,316 foreign nationals had entered Albania. He said that this represented a 4.5% increase compared to 2019.
In June, the Albanian government lifted all entry restrictions for foreign tourists.
No Covid-19 test, antibody test, vaccine passport or any other document related to the virus is necessary to visit Albania.
The requirement for a 14-day quarantine upon entering the country has also been lifted.
Restaurants and bars can stay open until midnight, and masks are not mandatory outside.
