Only Two Pre-Election Coalitions Registered in Kosovo

Only two pre-election coalitions have been registered in Kosovo before the snap parliamentary elections on February, 14.

The deadline to register coalitions passed yesterday, January 12, at 6pm.

Kosovo’s Central Electoral Committee has announced that only two coalitions have been registered:

  1. The VAKAT coalition, consisting of the Demokratska Stranka Bošnjaka (DSB) and Demokratska Stranka Vatan (DSV) parties;
  2. The ZAJENO coalition, consisting of Pokret za Gora (PG) and Graðanska Inicijativa Gore (GIG);

Reportedly, the New Kosovo Alliance (AKR) did not manage to reach a coalition deal with the second largest party, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).

Kosovo’s large parties did not seek pre-election coalitions and will run independently.

The deadline for candidates is January 16.
