The Democratic Party demanded the resignation or dismissal of at least six heads of departments within the Tirana Municipality, who have been recently appointed as high Socialist Party functionaries in contradiction with the law, that precludes such offices from being held by government workers.
Democratic Party spokeswoman Ina Zhupa claimed that six department heads appointed by Tirana mayor Erion Veliaj, are also, as of March 1, among the 135 delegates of the National Socialist Party Assembly: Elton Kacidhja, Taulant Tusha, Admir Abrija, Arli Naska, Anila Shehu, and Zhaneta Beqiri.
Zhupa stressed that the law prohibits high state officials from being members of political parties.
