On Friday, Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha accused the government of forcing Albanians to flee their country.
Basha tweeted that “for as long as [Rama] leads Albania,” Albanians would continue fleeing “their ancestors’ country.” He claimed that the Prime Minister’s bad governance is “killing citizens’ hopes” and is the reason for Albanians’ high migration rates. In the tweet, Basha dubbed the “emptying of Albania” an act of “national treason.”
Sa kohë ky njeri drejton Shqipërinë, aq kohë shqiptarët do zbrazin vendin e të parëve.

Basha also posted a chart reportedly showing that 59 in 10,000 Albanians choose to seek asylum in the EU, putting the percentage of the population that seeks asylum, higher than even that of countries experiencing violent conflict such as Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Venezuela.
