Albania’s Minister of Interior Sandër Lleshaj told opposition leader’s bodyguard that Lulzim Basha’s life is in danger, according to the Democratic Party (PD).
PD General Secretary Gazmend Bardhi stated that the informal meeting took place between Minister Lleshaj and Basha’s bodyguard, Feim Dollapaj.
Bardhi demanded the minister to immediately inform the PD on the motives leading him to discuss the issue in an informal way and by bypassing the law.
Bardhi also called on Minister Lleshaj “to officially inform on the seriousness and reliability of this information,” otherwise the PD would consider this an attempt for “political blackmail, and [Leshaj] will be held responsible for the action.”
Local media report that President Ilir Meta has called an urgent meeting with the head of the Albanian Intelligence Agency (SHISH) and the Commander of the Republican Guard to discuss the situation.
