Acting President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani said that the government should not justify the delays that have been created on supplying of vaccines against COVID-19, mentioning April as the time when vaccines can arrive.
Osmani said that he expects that in addition to the vaccines of the COVAX program of the World Health Organization, Kosovo will provide vaccines from several European Union countries.
“Other countries in the region are ahead of us, so we must and will demand responsibility from the government on why we are not prepared and it is expected, it seems that vaccines will arrive sometime after April,” Osmani told media, after visiting the University Hospital and Clinical Service of Kosovo.
Asked about the vaccines against COVID- 19 reported to have entered from Serbia in the northern municipalities of Kosovo, Osmani said that it is a violation of agreements reached in the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by European Union.
“This is not only a flagrant violation of the agreements that were signed in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia […] but on the other hand it shows a lack of preparation on our institutions so that all citizens, in every corner of Kosovo, including the north of the country, are notified when they should expect vaccines from Kosovo health institutions,” Osmani said.
Last week, Vucic announced that Serbia has started vaccination of Serbs in northern Kosovo.
Kosovo authorities said there was no official information into how and how many vaccines might have entered the country.
Chief Prosecutor of Mitrovica, Shyqri Syla, told Koha newspaper on Monday that they are looking into the available information before formally launching an investigation.
