Two candidates for alternate members of Albania’s judicial vetting institutions were selected by an ad hoc parliamentary committee, on Friday.
They will be voted on the floor next week, needing a simple majority to be confirmed.
Rozeta Ivanova is the candidate for alternate member of the Independent Vetting Commission (KPK), and Irena Nino is the candidate for vetting’s Public Commissioner.
The two vacancies were created due to the election to the High Court of former KPK member Darjel Sina, and the resignation of the alternate public commissioner Pal Shkëmbi, who ran as an independent in last April’s parliamentary elections.
For the past 5 years, Albania has been conducting a full vetting of the judicial system. More than half of all judges and prosecutors vetted so far have been removed from the system, mainly for not accounting for all their financial assets.
