The parliamentary committee of inquiry on theHabilaj–Tahiri affair has started work today, but majority representatives have requested it be postponed.
The committee’s first session, requested by the opposition, was concluded quickly after Socialist representatives asked that the committee postpone the beginning of its work by a week.
The committee is set to discuss and investigate the Habilaj–Tahiri affair and the ways in which institutions meant to battle the involvement of high state officials in drugs trafficking failed.
The head of the committee, Democrat representative Edi Paloka, stated that the committee would verify the actions and non-actions of investigative institutions, be it in the case of former minister Tahiri, be it in the general phenomenon of institutional and state embroilment in criminal activity.
The committee will be active until September 5, 2018.
