Police Clash with Protesting Ballsh Oil Workers Over Unpaid Salary

Workers at the Ballsh oil refinery are protesting this Monday in front of the plant. The protestors have clashed with police forces who have surrounded the plant and refused to let them enter.

The oil workers have asked the police to refrain from using force as all they are demanding is the payment of their salary that is in arrears.

One of the oilmen said:

“We call on them to open the door, this is our place of work, we have nothing to do with the police. We have to get what belongs to us, let them take the plant for scrap if they want. We also have children and we want what belongs to us. ”

On Friday, the oil workers announced that they had given the company ‘Allun’, which manages the refinery, until September 14 to pay the arrears and resume work.

In a protest on Friday, the oil workers said that on Monday, September 14, classes resume and they can not pay the tuition fees of their children, as they have not received any salary for 10 months.

The head of the oil workers’ union, Sokol Dautaj, stated that the company’s representatives had disappeared, although a week ago they promised to sign new employment contracts and pay arrears.
