The police has arrested 59 people and has launched investigations on 116 others, who were part of the protests following the killing of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha by a police officer.
The arrested stand accused of organizing illegal protests and destruction of public property.
“As a result of violence using rocks, stone tiles, hard objects, and pyrotechnic materials, 5 police officers were injured, suffering serious physical damages; road signs, traffic lights, street-lights were destroyed; trash cans were set on fire; and state institutions and private objects suffered great material damages,” announced the State Police via Facebook.
The State Police has asked parents to forbid their minor children from participating in the protests.
“The State Police calls upon all those who want to protest to keep in mind that, at these unusual times, in order to preserve public health, gatherings of more than 10 people are banned by law. Any use of violence is similarly punishable by law,” the police announcement concluded.
