President of the European Council Charles Michel is visiting Tirana today. He will meet with Prime Minister Rama to discuss the country’s EU accession bid, and the Donors’ Conference in the aftermath of the November earthquake, scheduled to be held on February 17 in Brussels.
President Michel will also visit Skopje today to meet with North Macedonia’s leaders.
This is Michel’s first visit in his new capacity, and it is considered an important one for both Albania and North Macedonia as EU leaders are set to decide on whether to open EU accession talks before summer 2020.
Both countries were also visited by European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi only one week ago.
