The Serious Crimes Prosecution Office has appealed the Serious Crimes Court of First Instance’s decision to allow former Minister of Interior Affairs to remain under house arrest.
According to the Prosecution, allowing Tahiri, who has been accused of drug trafficking and collaborating with a criminal group, to remain under house arrest may result in destruction of evidence. The Prosecution Office demands that Tahiri be taken into custody.
On the other hand, Tahiri’s attorney has stated that he will be appealing judge Baku’s decision as well, requesting Tahiri be released.
The decision to place the former Minister under house arrest was announced on May 15.
