The Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) has announced it will charge four officials for rigging a tender for food purchase for families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, and masks.
Three officials from the Ministry of Defense – Ylli Imeri, Dafina Keca and Andrea Dapaj – were the members of the Bid Evaluation Commission, and Sokol Zaimi was the head of the State Reserves when the tender was awarded to a Macedonian IT company in March 2020.
Investigations started after a report by the opposition Democratic Party.
Former Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, now Albania’s top diplomat, was also interrogated in relation to the investigation.
The tender cost €1.15 million in public money.
