The Serious Crimes Prosecution concluded the investigation into former Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri. Today the prosecution submitted the investigation file to the Court of Serious Crimes.
The Court of Serious Crimes recently granted a request from the former Minister to limit prosecution’s investigation period until March 10. The deadline set by the court allowed the prosecution to close the investigation before it was taken over by the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK). The SPAK is not yet operating due to the time needed to examine applications of candidates and future SPAK prosecutors undergoing vetting.
In January 2019, the Serious Crimes Prosecution demanded that the three-month extension for Saimir Tahiri be extended for the fourth time, arguing that information from Montenegro related to the investigation was expected to arrive.
The next court session for Saimir Tahiri will be held tomorrow at 13.00.
