Rama to Basha: You’ve Got 48 Hours to Change Your Mind

Rather publishing his weekly Facebook communication, Prime Minister Edi Rama posted a “Note of the Day.” The brief text announces the registration of the “new team” of PS representatives, which is “ready to start the grand finale of this mandate.” The sports metaphor here is not accidental. The PS has also chosen “This One’s For You Albania,” a football song used during UEFA 2016, as its election anthem.

The rest of his note was a final appeal to opposition leader Lulzim Basha to join the elections after the breakdown of the negotiations last week and the final ultimatum set by the Central Election Commission (KQZ).

But different from four years ago we have are not playing against discredit government, but a consumed opposition. The same people that set Albania on the road to destruction, now have put the Democratic Party on the road to annihilation.

I continue to more or less have the conviction that the Democratic Party will stop just before the edge of the abyss and will return to enter the elections. Everywhere where he has taken up something, Lulzim Basha has done great damage and this is the only reason that makes my conviction incomplete.

[…] I want to leave Lulzim Basha alone in these last 48 hours, which will decide whether the Democratic Party will make the turn of salvation or will consumed in the abyss of self-destruction.
