In his weekly monologue, Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that if the Socialist Party does not manage to win 71 mandates during the June 25 elections, he will step down as Prime Minister:
Allow me today to tell you honestly […] that I have no reason whatsoever to keep me seat as prime minister like until today by accepting that the administration of the state remains the hostage of the [smaller] parties.
Elaborating further on theme of being a “hostage” of the LSI and any other parties, except the PD, the Prime Minister continued his customary attacks on Ilir Meta’s party, by blaming them for everything that went wrong in his government.
[We accepted] in order to gain votes for a reform to build a state, to accept the blackmail and lists of requests of coalition parties to surrender a directorate in exchange for a vote, up to even the job of the cleaning lady in institutions in exchange for a vote in favor of a reform.
