Recount of Ballots in Durres Doesn’t Change Distribution of Mandates

The partial recount of ballots in Durres hasn’t changed the distribution of parliamentary seats for this district.

On Wednesday, the Central Elections Commission recounted ballots in 108 of the 140 boxes in total, following opposition complaints. It had refused earlier to repeat elections in this district.

The opposition Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) hoped to get a seat after the recount as it had fallen short of only 136 votes.

However, all three major parties – Socialist Party, Democratic Party, and Socialist Movement for Integration – got less votes after the recount compared to the preliminary results announced earlier by the CEC. The PS got 26 votes less, PD 38, and LSI 1.

As a result, the PS will have 8 of the 13 mandates assigned to this district, PD 5 seats, and LSI none.

Votes were also partially recounted in Berat, resulting in irrelevant changes for the distribution of mandates.
