On May 19, Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu took part in the regional video-conference for managing the socio-economic repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, where he supported the ongoing process of opening EU accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.
Aurescu also spoke of the importance of maintaining the enlargement policy at the heart of EU actions in the Western Balkans, beyond one-off support initiatives for socio-economic recovery.
The conference was also attended by ministers of EU Member States and Western Balkans countries.
The purpose of the meeting consisted in coordinating regional-level actions that are being undertaken to confront the socio-economic effects of the coronavirus crisis.
The Romanian Minister welcomed the numerous aid initiatives the EU has made available to regional partners in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and its economic after-effects.
