Serbia Won’t Allow Bosnia and Herzegovina to Recognise Kosovo

The Speaker of the Assembly of Serbia, Ivica Dacic has stated that Serbia will not allow Bosnia and Herzegovina to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

In an interview with SRNA, Dacic spoke about Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina and said that Kosovo’s independence could not be recognized by BiH:

“We cannot allow anyone to challenge Republika Srpska, demand its abolition, or demand that BiH recognize Kosovo’s independence. We have not tolerated it so far, and we will not do it in the future.”

Previously, the Serbian government has threatened Bosnia and Herzegovina with disintegration if it recognizes Kosovo’s independence.

Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin has warned the Bosnian and Croat presidents of BiH that he would support the independence of Republika Srpska if they supported that of Kosovo.

For years, Bosniak and Croat representatives of the presidency have lobbied for Kosovo’s independence, but have always been blocked by Serb representatives in the presidency.
