The Ambassador of Serbia to the United States of America, Marko Djuric said that the newly elected Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti is “wreaking havoc in the region”.
“By claiming, in his latest statement, that he does not even want to discuss the formation of the Community of Serb majority municipalities – a legally binding obligation of Kosovo, signed, ratified, and internationally guaranteed, Kurti has in effect announced the end of the dialogue in the most bestial way,” Djuric wrote on Twitter.
Djuric adds that with his stance on talks with Serbia, Kurti has shown he has no respect for the efforts of the international community to resolve the open issues peacefully and through dialogue.
“His words are a clear warning that the government in Pristina is headed by a true opponent of reconciliation and by a man whose policies are nothing less than a threat to regional peace and stability,” Djuric said.
While presenting his governing cabinet before it was voted in on Monday, Kurti said that the issue of missing persons will be a priority for the government in the dialogue with Serbia.
“We have 1,640 missing persons. Serbia has not condemned anyone for this crime […] No progress can be made in any other area if there is no progress in this one,” Kurti stated.
After meeting the European Union special envoy for Prishtina-Belgrade talks on the normalization of relations Miroslav Lajcak on March 1, Kurti stated that he is not against the dialogue, but he is for a “constructive” one.
He added that his party won the election on a program focused on justice and employment.
