Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu has announced that a vaccination center will open in the city of Vlora in the south of Albania.
During a visit to a new vaccination center in Shkodra, she stated:
“First the vaccinations will come here and on Thursday we will open another center in Vlora. As such we will extend the vaccination process through the country.”
The vaccination of doctors and nurses started in Shkodra today. Some 7020 doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in the country on Monday and medical staff gathered at the Palace of Sports to receive the first dose.
A further 360,000 doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine are expected to arrive in Albania in April.
Manstirliu was joined on her visit to the city by Prime Minister Edi Rama. A number of protestors had gathered upon Rama’s arrival to protest against what they say is a lack of adequate measures taken regarding recent flooding in the area. Protestors lined one street and a police presence was noted.
