The Special Appeals Chamber (KPA) confirmed prosecutor Manjola Kajana, who is now expected to become a member of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK).
The High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) listed Kajana 8th out of 15 SPAK candidates. Her appointment will bring the number of SPAK members to 13.
She was initially confirmed for duty on June 18, 2019 by the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) body made up of Olsi Komici, Brunilda Bekteshi, and Lulzim Hamitaj.
However, in August 2019, the Public Commissioner (KP) appealed the confirmation, and asked that Kajana be dismissed.
The KP office alleged that the first vetting stage did not include a thorough investigation into the prosecutor’s wealth, and asked the Appeals Chamber to launch a new investigation.
